Robert Downey, Jr. Rumored to Clash With Ryan Reynolds on Set of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Damien Leone gets cold feet about revealing Art the Clown’s origin, Patton Oswalt plays a Romulan on Strange New Worlds, and Silent Hill finally returns with a new sequel. Faster than you can say, “Una Chin Riley,” it’s Morning Spoilers!

Avengers: Doomsday

According to “multiple insiders” (via the Express Tribune), Robert Downey, Jr. forced Marvel to reshoot three weeks-worth of material because he was unsatisfied with his body double’s performance inside the Doctor Doom suit. Reshooting the scenes with Downey, Jr. in the suit has reportedly inflated the film’s budget by “millions.”

The outlet also reported how “a poorly timed joke” from Downey, Jr.’s co-star Ryan Reynolds “sparked confrontation” between the two actors, “resulting in a tense standoff.” The altercation allegedly caused Marvel Studios “to step in” and change the actors’ shooting schedules in order to “ease tensions.”

Relatedly, Namor actor Tenoch Huerta described his reduced role in Avengers: Doomsday as being much “simpler in terms of time and energy” than it was in Wakanda Forever during a recent appearance on La Resolana Con El Capi (via Deadline).

The dynamic has been different. There are twentysomething characters involved in the story, which means we are each going to have smaller roles because there needs to be space for all the characters and all the universes. This makes it a much more simpler role, in terms of time and energy of making a film like this.

X-Men

In more Marvel news, director Jake Schrier confirmed he’s begun working on X-Men in a new interview with Empire.

I can’t say anything about it, but we’ve started work on X-Men, and that’s obviously very, very exciting.

Terrifier 4

Director Damien Leone is apparently worried that revealing Art the Clown’s origin in Terrifier 4 will ruin the character’s “mystique,” according to a recent interview with Collider.

I love the mystique. That’s the most important part, even if people don’t realize it because they’re just so hungry to know what his deal is. I think a lot of people don’t realize the reason he works so well is because of the mystique. If you pull the curtain back too far, and you lose that mystique, it’s over. You’re not supposed to see the wizard behind the curtain. It’s almost always a disappointment. I think there’s a way with his origin to have my cake and eat it too, but we’ll find out. I am taking a bit of a risk, but I’m very well aware about losing that mystique at the same time, so we’ll see if it plays out. I think the majority of people are going to be very cool with it.

The Long Walk

A new hype trailer for The Long Walk suggests the film has raised test audiences’ heartbeats to over 200 BPM, “the equivalent of a fighter pilot’s body under 9 G’s of force.”

Return to Silent Hill

We also have a brief teaser trailer for Return to Silent Hill, a franchise that has consistently made one film per decade since its 2006 debut.

From

Julia Doyle (Astrid and Lily Save the World) has joined the fourth season of From as Sophia, “a sheltered and vulnerable pastor’s daughter,” according to Deadline.
