A police officer is in hospital after he was stabbed in the chest following a pursuit in western Sydney early this morning.
Police were called to Hill End Road, Doonside, at about 12.30am after reports of five men fighting.
On arrival, officers saw a hatchback driving away, and police began a pursuit.
The hatchback hit a power pole on Power Street a short time later and three men got out and tried to flee.
Police were able to arrest the three men, but police will allege that in doing so, a male constable was stabbed in the chest by a 20-year-old man.
The officer was taken to hospital, where he is in a stable condition.
Three men, aged 18, 20, and 21, were arrested, but no charges have yet been laid.
The investigation is ongoing.
