Marvel’s Grand ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Plans Have Started Hitting the Web

Marvel’s next mega team-up event, Avengers: Doomsday, is a little over a year away, but the hype is already swirling. Last week, rumors ran rampant about not one, but four teaser trailers possibly coming to theaters with Avatar: Fire and Ash this week, and now, one of those seems to have leaked. It’s short, simple, and has a major, major reveal in it.

If you want to remain spoiler-free for Avengers: Doomsday, or at least the teaser trailer, here’s your last chance.

In the leaked trailer, we see a person on a motorcycle pull up to a familiar house. That person enters the house and seems to be holding a baby. It’s then revealed to Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, which means it’s the house from the end of Avengers: Endgame. The words “Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday” then appear on the screen, followed by the Avengers “A” and a countdown.

io9 reached out to Marvel Studios about the potential leak, but it did not offer any comment or clarification. However, several accounts on social media that posted the clip have had them removed, which does suggest Marvel is watching.

So is this real? Avatar: Fire and Ash does start to roll into theaters early this week, all across the world. It seems very plausible that a theater got its copy, screened it, the trailer was included, and someone recorded it. So while we can’t 100% confirm its veracity at this moment, it’s very plausible.

And, frankly, not all that shocking. Fans who have been following Marvel news over the past few years know that back in 2024, Evans was reported to be returning for the film. However, in subsequent interviews promoting new films, he denied those claims. Apparently, he and Marvel were waiting for the right time to reveal the news, and this short teaser trailer was the time.

Assuming that this trailer is real and it will be attached to Avatar: Fire and Ash in theaters, the next question becomes, is this the only one? Reports last week were that there were four trailers, which would be revealed one at a time each week in theaters only. But we aren’t sure that’s exactly true. Doomsday directors, the Russo brothers, then added to the speculation with a cryptic post on Instagram of a “V.” Is that a five? Is something coming in five days? Are there five trailers? Again, Marvel Studios did not offer comment or clarification.

Thankfully, we’ll start to get that clarity in the coming days when Avatar: Fire and Ash opens in theaters. For now, what do you think of this rollout? Was this a good way to announce Evans’ return? And are we excited for Evans to return despite the sendoff he had in Endgame? Let us know below.

Avengers: Doomsday is just over one year away, opening December 18, 2026.
